Tablewar Miniature Cases

To me the most difficult part of this hobby is transporting your miniatures.  Over the last couple of months, my Tau have taken a beating both on the table and off.  The most damaging is during transportation.  Some fire warriors have lost arms, heads and backpacks.   The most damaging was when my broadside hit the floor, makes me think of  Humpty Dumpty.

Anyway, I am always looking for neat was of transporting my armies.  I stumbled across these Youtube videos (basic case; In Use) a while back and though I would share.  The case is from Tablewar Designs

Dark Angels, Pre Heresy Color Scheme

I have always liked the Dark Angels, especially during the Rogue Trader days. I mean what's not to like about basic black, it's formal, it's sexy and foreboding.  And although I like green as a color, to me Dark Angels should wear black.  I hope that they complete their quest to rid the universe of the fallen soon. Then they can wear black again.

When the Dark Vengeance Box Set Limited Edition was released, I got it basically for the rule book  and the Dark Angels miniatures and I sold off the Chaos parts.

My plan was to purchase another tactical squad on ebay and just have a small (500 pt) but playable army.  I had a box of  Devastators, an old dreadnought  and some odd space marine bits, so I was sure I could cobble something up.

As time went on I began to regret the selling of the Chaos part of the box set. Although I don't play Chaos, they were some really nice minis.  So I began looking on the internet to replace them, to complete the set.   However I was unable to find something in my price range and since I still need a tactical squad of DA's, I decided to get the regular Dark Vengeance box.

Now I have the Chaos miniatures, plus the Dark Angels x2. I also recently picked up the Deathwatch Command (cool mini's), which means plenty of Terminators. I am not sure what I will do with the extra Commander and  Librarian.  I might make bits out of them, or sell them.. I am not a big ebay user, so if anyone is interested let me know.

What I do know is that I will not be painting them green or bone..
I am thinking.. well.. black!

Deathwatch

"Suffer not the alien to live!"
I have been GM'ing a pickup game of  Deathwatch at "Dragon's Keep", the local game store. It has been fun. However I must admit I am a little rusty as a GM.  I have to learn a new rule set, and adjust to a different style of play. So far my players have been very helpful, patient and supportive (thanks everyone).

Since I was busy playing and DM'ing D&D 4e over the last 4 years. I missed the whole Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader and Black Crusade releases, it's a shame really. Fantasy Flight Games has really done an awesome job with these games, good mechanics, good background, great tone and well worth the money. So if you are look for a new RPG, and are familiar with the Dark and Grim Universe of 40K , check it out at your local game store.

"boltguns, heavy bolters, and tyranids.. Oh Ya!"

New Job, New Location, New Look..

I just realized that it has been over 8 months since my last post, and what a busy 8 months it has been.  I have moved to a new state and got a new job.  This seems like a small feat, but when you have a family of 4 (and two dogs) it can be rather big.  It involves U-hauls, storage units, rental units and school transfers all over the most wonderful time of the year (winter), but for now there is a calm in the storm.  However since this is a blog about gaming, I will attempt to stay on task.

So as with a change of address and job, I am changing the blog with a new look and content. In the past I tried to maintain two blogs; rpg and tabletop. However since I can barely keep up with one, what makes me think I can do two.. So I will be combining the two to Sherpa.

Great Youtube Channels:
Since most of my miniatures, paints and books were in storage, I did have time to watch a lot of Youtube (maybe too much).  Anyway here are a couple that I found really informative, entertaining and enjoyable, I really recommend subscribing.

" Just everything I like to do in my spare time, making models and having fun."

"A beginners guide to wargaming - includes building, painting and battle reports as well as some general Tom Foolery."

Rubbish In Rubbish Out (Knights of Dice)
"I love to make scenery, sometimes I like to play some wargames too.. but building scenery is SOOO much fun!"

The DM's Craft
"Vids to help DM's make (inexpensive) tile and set piece for their games of Pathfinder, D&D and other RPGs."

Until next time..
